horrible translations - courtesy of china fanatic

Hey guys! Today I'll be introducing two translators I've made with a website called LingoJam. LingoJam lets you easily make an online language translation engine. Simply visit their website, click on "Create Translator", add some words, phrases and rules, and you'll have your very own custom built, fully-editable online translator. It's simple and free!

My translators are meant to create terrible translations from English to Chinese, and Chinese to English. First, in the English-to-Chinese translator, from what you type in (say, "Hello, I like China!"), I use Google Translate to translate "Hello", then "I", then "like", then "China", individually, then add in punctuation and string them all together. This results in: "你好, 一世 喜欢 china!"

I did this by copying the list of 2000 most frequent English words (separated by newlines), pasting them into Google Translate, copying the Chinese translation, and pasting it into the LingoJam interface. So, "Hello" always becomes "你好", "I" always becomes "一世", etc. However, the word list did not include "China", so it is not translated in the end. Thus, it is much worse than Google Translate as:
  • one, it does not translate phrases properly;
  • two, the phrasing and grammar is not necessarily correct;
  • three, the words only have one translation so it will not fit the context;
  • four, the spaces are not even gotten rid of.
It should be obvious by now that this is just for fun, and not to be used for any formal stuff. If you do, I do not take any responsibility for any losses caused by this.

Secondly, in the Chinese-to-English translator, from what you type in (say, "你好, 一世 喜欢 china!"), I use Google Translate to translate "你", then "好", etc. individually, then add in punctuation and string them all together. (English words are ignored.) This results in: "You  it is good ,  one  world   like  happy  china!"

I did this by getting all the words used in the English-to-Chinese translator, separating them by newlines, pasting it into Google Translate, copying the English translation, and pasting it into the LingoJam interface. So, "你" always becomes "you", "好" always becomes "it is good", etc. So, the English words are left alone. Note that there are many awkward spacings in between the words, so as I have said before, I do not take any responsibility for any losses caused by this.

I hope to create this project on Scratch once Scratch 3.0 is up. It will have built-in Google Translate so it will be more convenient. Scratch 3.0 will be up by 2 January 2019.

Try these translators here for your convenience instead of keeping on having to switch tabs.

Thank you for your patronage! Please comment your translated texts and ask everyone to guess what was the input. Here's one:
